Shana DeClercq

Director of Community Engagement
  • Changemaker Type: Communicator

True, well-told stories. Compelling images. Breaking research findings and knowledge as old as time. As Community Engagement Director at The Story of Stuff Project, Shana develops engagement strategies to reach new people and welcome them to a movement of people who are concerned about our problem with Stuff.

Our Engagement Team facilitates the journey of everyday heroes as they transform from concerned observers to passionate changemakers. When Community members connect with each other, learn from each other, and build those Citizen Muscles, we can achieve change at an enormous scale. Before joining The Story of Stuff Project, Shana served as the Education and Outreach Manager at the Alliance for Climate Education.

Shana is proud to be a San Francisco Bay Area local, along with her wife Deborah and their calico cat. In her spare time, she hikes in the Oakland redwood forests, catches storytelling nights at local cafés, and plots strategies for solving climate change. Reach her about having a Story of Stuff staff member speak at your event (or about how people power can rewire the take-make-waste Story) at shana – at – storyofstuff – dot – org.  Tweet her your favorite climate solutions story @SolveForBetter.
