Thank you for your interest in bringing The Story of Plastic (documentary) to your community! Options for hosting a screening vary according to the hosting organization. Please carefully review this page to select the appropriate option. If you’re not sure which option you should use, you can email us at storyofplastic [at] gmail.com.

Licenses and DVDs
Schools, educational and research institutions, colleges and universities, faith-based organizations, conferences, public libraries, and government agencies are required to purchase a digital license or DVD through our partners at Outcast Films.
Community Screenings
Grassroots groups, Break Free From Plastic member organizations, and community organizations using the film for impact purposes may organize no-fee community screenings. If your group qualifies for a no-fee community screening, please review the following information, then complete the form at the bottom of the page to register your event. After your screening is confirmed, you’ll received a more detailed hosting guide and other film materials.
How will I stream the film?
Prior to your event, we will deliver hosts a password-protected link to stream the film on the video platform Vimeo. For virtual events, hosts will provide that link to their audience, who can tune in to watch the film on their own time at their convenience. For in-person events, use this link to stream the film via a projector. In cases where internet is not available at the event location, a downloadable link will be provided by special request.
Are subtitles available?
Yes! Subtitles can be accessed on the film link, for the following languages:
Arabic, Bulgarian, Cantonese (traditional), Croatian, Danish, Dutch, English, Farsi, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Lithuanian, Mandarin (simplified and traditional), Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swahili, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.
How can I host a post-screening conversation?
At an in-person event, organizers might follow a screening with a discussion or Q&A. We recommend that virtual screening hosts do the same using an online platform of their choice. Zoom is a popular Video webinar software that includes HD screen sharing, host control, questions and answers dialog box, and post-webinar reporting. Conferencing is free for meetings up to 40 minutes.
What are some best practices for hosting a screening?
