Today, we’re doing something different for a nonprofit: we’re doing the giving. This Giving Tuesday, we’re inviting you to apply to our Grassroots Grants Program!
We established the Grassroots Grants Program in 2017 to support small organizations and groups organizing against water privatization and plastic pollution. Since we launched, we have supported 70 grassroots groups with over $200,000 in funding.
In September, our community answered an emergency request for Hurricane Ida relief with astounding generosity. We matched your contributions and got more than $25,000 out the door as quickly as we could to predominantly black- and indigenous-led and serving organizations, as they rebuild and recover while simultaneously continuing to fight environmental degradation in their communities.
Now, we are so excited to be offering more in funding than ever before. Our goal is to award $100,000 next year in grants, with a maximum grant amount of $5,000. We support projects that value local community involvement and organizing, creative interventions, strategic thinking, and both defensive “fight-back” and offensive solutions-focused projects.
